What does 1,256 mg/kg mean?
Polyphenol levels are measured in milligrams per kilogram of oil. At 1,256 mg/kg, a 20 g serving provides about 25 mg of polyphenols, five times the 5 mg daily amount used in the EU olive oil polyphenol health claim.
Polyphenols and health
Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives (e.g. oleuropein complex and tyrosol) in olive oil.
How to use
Best used raw: drizzle over salads, vegetables, fish and bread, dip with bread, or take a spoonful. Store in a cool, dark place with the cap closed.
