Sparta White Label High-Phenolic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 250ml

Sparta White Label is a high-phenolic, cold-pressed Greek extra virgin olive oil made from Agrielia (wild olive) fruit from Lykovouni, harvested in September 2025. Independent laboratory analysis shows 3,083 mg/kg total polyphenols and 1,979 mg/kg oleocanthal, far above typical extra virgin olive oils. Supplied in a 250ml (8.45 US fl oz) dark glass bottle. Limited stock: once this harvest has sold, it is gone until the next season.

Certificate of Analysis: 2025/26 Harvest

Analysed at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and issued by the World Olive Center for Health, Athens (certificate C2526-00028, dated 2 October 2025). The certificate is shown in the product images.

  • Total polyphenols analysed: 3,083 mg/kg
  • Oleocanthal: 1,979 mg/kg
  • Oleacein: 816 mg/kg
  • Oleocanthal + oleacein (index D1): 2,795 mg/kg
  • Total tyrosol derivatives: 2,199 mg/kg
  • Total hydroxytyrosol derivatives: 884 mg/kg

The certificate states that a 20 g daily serving provides 61.66 mg of hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol or their derivatives. Results relate to the analysed sample.

What is high-phenolic olive oil?

High-phenolic (high-polyphenol) olive oil is extra virgin olive oil with an unusually high level of natural phenolic compounds such as oleocanthal and oleacein. These compounds give a high-phenolic oil its peppery, bitter, throat-catching character. The Sparta White Label is fresh, unfiltered and cold-pressed, so expect an intense, grassy flavour.

Polyphenols and health

Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives (e.g. oleuropein complex and tyrosol) in olive oil. One 20 g serving of this oil provides 61.66 mg according to the certificate above.

How to use

A little goes a long way with an oil this concentrated. Take a small spoonful straight, or drizzle it over salads, soups, vegetables and bread. Calculated from the certificate, a single 5 ml teaspoon provides roughly 14 mg of hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol and their derivatives, almost three times the 5 mg daily amount in the EU health claim above. Best used raw or added at the end of cooking to keep its flavour. Store in a cool, dark place with the cap closed.

Certifications

  • Pharmacy Faculty of Athens: polyphenol content analysis
  • TUV-NORD: certified organic producer
  • Food Allergens Lab: fatty acid analysis, vitamin E confirmation, chemical-free verification
