Sparta Green Label High-Phenolic Wild Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 250ml

Sparta Green Label is a very high-phenolic Greek extra virgin olive oil made from wild olives, with 3,443 mg/kg total polyphenols and 2,040 mg/kg oleocanthal in the 2025/26 harvest. Limited edition, supplied in a 250ml bottle.

At 3,443 mg/kg, a 20 g serving provides about 69 mg of polyphenols. The producer suggests a smaller serving of 10 g a day, which provides 34.43 mg, almost seven times the 5 mg daily amount used in the EU olive oil polyphenol health claim.

Polyphenols and health

Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives (e.g. oleuropein complex and tyrosol) in olive oil.

Wild olives from Sparta

Sparta Green comes from a family-owned estate 16 km south-east of Sparta, Greece. The estate covers 40 hectares of self-sustaining wild olive trees, grown without fertilisers, pesticides or chemicals.

How to use

The producer suggests 10 g a day, lower than for other Sparta oils because of its concentration. Take it straight, or drizzle over fresh food. Best used raw. Store in a cool, dark place with the cap closed.
