Premium Curly Mango Wood Serving & Chopping Board – Golden Grain, Hand-Finished in Java
A genuine one-off board cut from curly mango wood. Mango trees are grown across Java primarily for fruit, not timber, so no live tree is felled for this range — boards are only cut once a tree has died or stopped bearing fruit and is naturally removed from the orchard, making mango one of the more sustainable hardwoods available.
Like the rest of this salvaged range, this is dead-fall and reclaimed timber rather than plantation-cut stock — the same salvage-only sourcing used across the wider Wild Roots range, recovered by forest communities across Java, including the Badui and Dayak, who specialise in tracing naturally fallen timber rather than cutting live trees.
This particular board was chosen for its "curly" figure: warm golden-brown tones running through the grain, with a bold, near-black heartwood streak running the length of the board — a natural feature of the tree rather than a flaw, and part of what makes every mango board unique.
Finished by hand with a food-grade blend of tung nut oil and di-limonene (a citrus-derived terpene), which enhances absorption into the grain and deepens the natural colour. Supplied in a cotton drawstring gift bag.
