HARDWOOD BENCH

A very simple, very solid outdoor bench

Made in Indonesia from Sulawesian teak - a dense tropical hardwood, with wide slats, chunky construction and not much else to go wrong.

At 164cm long, there’s comfortably room for three people. At 44cm high, it works equally well as a garden bench, dining bench or somewhere to sit while you take your boots off.

It’s heavy. It’s hardwood. It can live outside.

WHY WE BUILT IT

There are lots of cheap outdoor benches made from thin bits of softwood, and lots of extremely expensive ones with architects' names attached to them.

We wanted something simpler.

A useful bench made from proper timber, using straightforward construction and enough material that it should be around for a very long time.

MATERIAL

Made from dense Indonesian hardwood selected for its durability and suitability for exterior use.

This isn't thin furniture-grade timber pretending to be outdoor furniture. There's a lot of wood in it.

CARE

You can leave it untreated and let the timber gradually weather and silver outdoors.

If you'd rather keep more of the original colour, give it an occasional coat of light Badui Oil. We've also stained one with decking oil (second photo). It's a spectacular bench. 

Sit on it. Leave it outside. Don't worry about it.
