Nothing has caused more excitement in the warehouse before. An absolute banger of a light.

A genuine salvaged Pauluhn Cat. No. 741 marine spotlight, recovered from a working vessel and converted into a striking ceiling light. Pauluhn of Houston, Texas built their 700 series spotlights for the harshest conditions at sea – military ships, patrol boats and rescue vessels – and it shows in the sheer weight and quality of the casting.

The heavy cast brass housing has been polished to a bright, warm finish while keeping its honest marine character: the raised PAULUHN, HOUSTON, TEXAS and CAT. NO. 741 lettering around the bezel is crisp and clear, with traces of verdigris still sitting in the recesses. The original thick ribbed glass lens is held by four wing-nut clamps, just as it was on deck.

For hanging, the light has been fitted with a brass drop rod and round brass ceiling plate, with a sealed gland and cable entry at the top of the housing. It makes a bold centrepiece over a kitchen island, bar or dining table, or in a hallway, workshop or commercial interior.

Condition

Genuine salvage with the marks of a working life at sea – light scratches, casting texture and patches of verdigris, as shown in the photos. Each light is individual, so finish will vary slightly from the one pictured.

Sold as a decorative light body. It is not wired or tested for mains use, and installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, who can also advise on a suitable lamp or LED conversion.
