A genuine salvaged flameproof ceiling light by Kokosha Co. Ltd., Japan, cast in solid brass and weighing a substantial 8kg. Flameproof fittings of this type were built for hazardous locations such as ships' machinery spaces and industrial plant, which is why this one is so heavily made.

The cast body carries the KOKOSHA name on the base, raised "Flame Proof Ceiling Light" and "Approved" lettering, and a maker's data plate marked 250V. Two cast cable entries sit either side of the base, and the original brass fixings are intact. The deep golden patina is from age and service.

Fitted with the original E27 lamp holder, which takes a standard E27 bulb. Suitable for wall or ceiling mounting.
