Salvaged Heyes of Wigan Polished Aluminium Double Strip Light – Vintage Flameproof Ship Light
A genuine salvaged double strip light by Heyes of Wigan, reclaimed from a decommissioned vessel and polished to a bright, mirror-like finish. Two long clear glass tubes run either side of a central support rod, held between heavy cast aluminium housings at top and bottom. The result is a tall, slim, sculptural light that looks as good switched off as it does lit, and it makes a real statement on a wall or ceiling.
Heyes of Wigan, Lancashire, were makers of flameproof and explosion-proof industrial lighting for ships, mines and power stations. This one carries the hallmarks of that heritage: bolted cast housings and screw-on covers cast with the warning "Disconnect circuit before entering – caution, do not paint this cover". It suits kitchens, bars, restaurants, hallways, stairwells, workshops, garages and any industrial or nautical-style interior.
