Salvaged Heyes of Wigan 4 Foot Polished Aluminium Industrial Strip Light – Vintage Flameproof Ship Light
A genuine salvaged 4 foot strip light by Heyes of Wigan, reclaimed from a decommissioned vessel. A sleek, bottle-shaped cast aluminium body, polished to a bright finish, holds the original clear glass tube, which is protected from knocks and breakage by a galvanised wire cage running the full length of the light. The body is cast with the maker's lettering around the end cap, and a painted steel mounting bar runs along the back. The result is a long, low, striking light with real presence.
Heyes of Water Heyes Works, Wigan, were makers of flameproof and explosion-proof industrial lighting for ships, mines and power stations. It can be hung from chains, fixed to a wall or ceiling, or simply stood on a shelf or counter, so it suits bars, restaurants, kitchens, shops, galleries, hallways, workshops, garages and any industrial or nautical-style interior.
