Marine Radio Co Nautical Double Sided Clock – MCS-972G
The double-sided variant of the Marine Radio Co MCS-972 range — this MCS-972G nautical clock was reclaimed from a decommissioned cargo ship dating circa the late 1980s and retains its original cream enamel paint and the authentic character of a working life at sea.
The Marine Radio Co Ltd is based in Korea. These marine slave clocks were originally electrically connected to a master unit on board ship, keeping accurate time unaffected by the violent movements of the sea. The double-sided design allowed the clock to be read from both directions — typically mounted in a passageway or corridor where crew needed to check the time from either end.
We have converted this example to run on two reliable AA battery-powered silent quartz mechanisms. A small knob on each face unscrews to open the clock and reveal the mechanism.
