Ethically Sourced from the Source

Our mimba burl is sourced directly from Hussein, who runs a mimba (neem) plantation on a remote island eight hours by sea from Java. When a mimba tree develops a burl — a natural growth that signals disease — Hussein replaces the tree and salvages the wood. What would otherwise be discarded becomes something extraordinary.

Why Mimba?

Mimba, also known as neem, is one of the world's most celebrated trees, prized globally for its medicinal and health-giving properties. The burl wood it occasionally produces is exceptionally rare, dense, and richly figured — ideal for heirloom-quality tableware.
