Japan’s Finest: Nitto & Ostrich at Banana
You don’t see much Japanese bike kit in the UK. A few odd imports, the occasional part tucked away in a boutique shop, and that’s about it. But at Banana we’ve done something daft (in a good way): we’ve pulled together the biggest stockpile of Nitto and Ostrich you’ll find anywhere in the West.
Nitto – Handmade in Tokyo since 1923
Nitto started bending and brazing steel handlebars in Tokyo over a century ago. They still do it the same way: hand-built, checked by eye, finished by people who actually ride. Their stems, posts and bars are trusted by Keirin racers, touring cyclists and framebuilders worldwide. Nitto kit is precise, over-built in the best way, and lasts forever.
Normally you’d be lucky to spot one or two models on a specialist site. We’ve got boxes. Chrome stems, quill posts, randonneur bars, compact drops – all the classics. Straight from Japan, straight into our warehouse.
Ostrich – The Quiet Kings of Bike Bags
Since the 1970s, Ostrich have been turning out practical, bomb-proof bike luggage in Japan. Saddle bags, front bags, rinko covers for folding and carrying bikes on trains, even little tool pouches – all made with that no-nonsense Japanese precision. Their stuff isn’t flashy, but it’s rock solid. Tourers and randonneurs in Japan swear by it.
And again, usually impossible to find here. But we’ve got them stacked: canvas saddle bags, army-green front loaders, travel bags, and all the oddities in between.
Why We’ve Got It
We like good gear. We like rare gear. And if we can buy a pile of it and pass it on at the right price, even better. That’s why we’ve gone big on Nitto and Ostrich. This isn’t drip-feed import stuff – it’s the real deal, in real quantities, ready to ship from the UK right now.
Get It While You Can
Japanese brands don’t export like the big European players. Once our stock’s gone, it could be years before another container shows up. If you’ve ever wanted Nitto or Ostrich, this is your chance.
