A sleek, bottle-shaped cast aluminium body, polished to a bright finish, holds the original clear glass tube, which is protected from knocks and breakage by a galvanised wire cage running the full length of the light. The body is cast with the maker's lettering around the end cap, and a painted steel mounting bar runs along the back. The result is a long, low, striking light with real presence.

Heyes of Water Heyes Works, Wigan, were makers of flameproof and explosion-proof industrial lighting for ships, mines and power stations.
